Bellcom continues to support its nominated charity Marie Curie Cancer Care (MCCC) by signing up to the 50/50 Challenge as part of their Big Build Appeal.  Money raised so far is £1680.

The purpose of the Big Build Appeal is to raise £1.6m to help fund a modern replacement for the current hospice in Glasgow.

The challenge is simple.  MCCC provides £50 and 50 days to entrepreneurs in Glasgow with the aim of making as much profit as possible.

The Bellcom team of volunteers, led by Sylvia Speirs, Inside Sales Rep, has been busy creating inventive ways to get everybody involved.  The aim was to have fun while raising lots of money.

The main event of the campaign is the Bellcom Office Olympics.  Challenges take place every Friday morning before start of business.  Events so far have included the Balloon Challenge.  Teams from each campaign have had to pass as many balloons through all the members of their team without using their hands.

The second challenge was breakfast with a twist.  Two members from each team were required for this challenge.  The first course was a bowl of dry cornflakes, which had to be consumed with hands behind your back.  The second course was Irn Bru in a baby's bottle fed to you whilst sitting on your partner's knee.

Money is being raised by each team by seeking sponsorship from colleagues, family and friends.  The team who raises the most will receive a long lunch break and the individual that raises the most will be given an extra day of holiday.

The Bellcom Office Olympics ties in with a dress down day every Friday with entry to the building guaranteed on payment of £1.

The first event of the campaign was a DVD and book sale.  Staff were encouraged to bring in their unwanted items, which could be sold in the breakout area.

Everybody is getting involved in the bid to raise as much as possible.  Chairman, Joe Blake and Managing Director, Varry McMenemy are even offering their services.  For the right price of course!

Varry offered a dinner party at her house to the team who bid the highest in a silent auction.  The successful bid of £240 from the Support Team means they can look forward to some home cooking complemented with fine wine.

Joe offered his services as a slave for a day for the person who placed the highest bid in a silent auction.  The winning bid of £100 by Varry means that Joe will be playing butler for Varry's dinner party.

With the challenge finishing on 19th November there is just a little time left to build on the £1,680 already raised.  The Bellcom Olympics will continue with other exciting events, which will boost the total.
